Butter and beeswax over a carved form

VENUS is a life sized, butter sculpture based on the paleolithic Woman of Willendorf sculpture (also referred to as the “Venus of Willendorf). It is believed by many art historians to be the first example of art, and is often described as an idealized version of woman. The sculpture is small: it will fit in the palm of your hand.

In a nod to the butter sculptures on view at state fairs across the country, the artist renders Venus at 5 ft. 5 inches tall, bringing her diminutive stature to monumental scale. The sculpture smells of butter and beeswax.
